On Friday, 8 May, the VVCF hosted a charity luncheon attended by the Friday Tour Group (FTG) based out of Paris. As Laura was hosting the luncheon in her home, there was quite a bit of preparation involved! Before the lunch, Laura gave a brief overview of the charity and the most recent developments. She introduced everyone involved, including her son Thurstan.
Afterwards, the FTG was treated to a buffet-style Vietnamese feast created by Laura and Trang, one of the charity's volunteers, including baked mini rolls with shrimp and vegetables, chicken and cabbage salad, red lamb curry, and sweet corn and sticky rice in raw sugar and coconut milk - a traditional Vietnamese dessert.
Laura's cooking was so popular that people were hovering in the kitchen waiting for hot dumplings to emerge from the steamer! After everyone had eaten their fill, Laura and Virginie spoke to the group more in depth about the work VVCF is doing in the village of Luong Tam.
Everyone was able to see the architectural plans and drawings for the village's new kindergarten and primary school, which will be completed in August. Many members of the FTG were very interested in both the drawings and the pictures of the areas where the schools will be built.
The lunch was a resounding success, with over €1,000 raised for the charity!

I just wanted to thank you, again, for inviting us to your home. You fixed a terrific lunch, and I know we all very much enjoyed the whole experience. There was a lot of chatter on the bus ride home about what a great day it had been.
ReplyDeleteI am so impressed with all that you have been accomplishing with your charity. Things have really taken off, and I know there is so much more to come. You are doing outstanding work, and I'm proud of you.
